Building Blocks: the Foundation of Future Hope Academy

Future Hope Academy, a Christian school located in the heart of Scarborough, Toronto, is the result of a

bold and inspiring vision shared by a group of devoted Christian leaders. Rooted in faith, compassion, and

a deep commitment to nurturing the next generation, the Academy is dedicated to equipping young

Canadians not only with academic excellence but also with a strong foundation in Christian values and

purpose.

A Journey Born of Vision and Friendship

The story begins with FH Education, formerly known as FH International High School—a private

Ontario-accredited secondary school serving students from Grades 9 through 12. Founded by Mr. Luo,

the school was built on the principles of Proactive LearningIndependent Thinking, and Experiencing

Joy.

Throughout eight years of growth—including the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic—FH remained

steadfast in its commitment to academic excellence. As both a traditional bricks-and-mortar institution

and later as FH Education Online, the school welcomed students from around the world, guiding them

through academic achievement and cultural integration.

Beyond academics, FH offered a vibrant student life through extracurricular clubs such as Business,

Debate, Film, Basketball, Music, and Social Integration—supporting both personal growth and

meaningful community.

A Home Away from Home

Central to the school’s development was Sophie Duan, a devoted Christian who carried forward Mr.

Luo’s vision with grace and leadership. Under Sophie’s guidance, FH Education flourished as a warm,

inclusive, and value-driven environment, forming what became known as the FH FAMILY.

This culture was built upon Christian principles and centered

around careempowermentcreativityjoyintegrityleadershipownership, and safety. FH became

more than a place of learning—it became a home away from home for students and staff alike.

1Serving the Community with Faith in Action

Alongside Sophie was Sajanth Mohan, a Christian minister, businessman, and Director of Marketing

and Business Development at FH. Together, they cultivated strong community ties and expanded FH’s

outreach through Faith in Action—a ministry dedicated to serving those in need across the city.

Through this initiative, FH provided food, clothing, and compassionate support to vulnerable families,

while also opening its doors to host Christian ministries, worship services, community events, and the

beloved annual Christmas Toy Drive, which brings joy to underprivileged children each holiday season.

Seeing the transformative power of sports, Sajanth partnered with Earl James, a tech expert and fellow

basketball enthusiast, to launch the FH Sports Centre. This initiative provides free or low-cost

basketball training to local children—offering opportunities that many would not otherwise have access

to.

A New Chapter: From Excellence to Eternal Purpose

Despite the school’s many accomplishments, the leadership team felt a deeper calling. They envisioned a

school that would not only prepare students for university and careers but also equip them to live out their

faith with confidence and conviction.

This conviction was solidified with the arrival of Tim Keung, a former psychologist and seasoned

businessman. After experiencing personal health challenges, Tim chose to redirect his energy and

resources toward education and charitable work. His support, along with his expertise in real estate,

enabled FH to relocate to a new, spacious campus at 3000 Lawrence Avenue East at the beginning of

the 2024–2025 school year. Bright classrooms and accessible transit made it the perfect setting for the

school’s next chapter.

With Mr. Luo’s continued support, the vision of launching a Christian academic stream for Grades 7

to 12 began to take shape. Guided by pastoral leaders like Sajanth Mohan and Joel Lazarus, the team

designed a curriculum grounded in Biblical studiesapologeticspersonal discipleship, and mission

service—woven seamlessly into strong academics.

Raising Up the Next Generation

Thus, Future Hope Academy was born—not just as a school, but as a training ground for future

Christian leaders. Students are supported academically, emotionally, and spiritually. Whether in the classroom, on the basketball court, or on mission trips across Canada and abroad, they are prepared to

be bold, compassionate, and faithful men and women of God.

With its competitive prep basketball programuniversity preparation services, and Christ-centered

community, Future Hope Academy stands as a unique and timely offering for families in the east end of

Toronto.
